UX-PM is not a design certification. It is a product certification.

Many people hear “UX certification” and think: this is for designers. It is a natural idea. UX has “user” in the name, and for many years UX work has lived inside design teams. But UX-PM was never built only for designers. The name says it: UX for Product Managers. UX-PM trains the people who make product decisions. Some of them are designers. Many of them are not.

Who really decides the user experience

Think about a normal product team. A product manager decides what goes into the next release. A developer decides how a feature works in practice. A marketing person decides how the product is explained. A manager decides the budget and the deadline.

Every one of these decisions changes the user experience. Most of these people never open a design tool. Still, they shape what the user sees, feels and understands.

This is the key idea behind UX-PM. The user experience is not created in the design file. It is created in the meeting room, in the roadmap, in the priorities and in the trade-offs. If the people in that room do not understand UX, the product suffers, no matter how good the designers are.

What UX-PM teaches

UX-PM does not teach people to draw screens. It teaches people to think about the product from the user’s point of view and to make better decisions because of it.

Across the three levels, participants learn to:

  • Understand who the users are and what they need, using real research, not opinions.
  • Connect user needs with business goals, so UX is a business conversation, not only a design conversation.
  • Integrate UX into the product process: discovery, definition, delivery and follow-up.
  • Ask the right questions to designers, developers and stakeholders.
  • Measure if the product experience is working, and act on the results.

None of this requires design skills. All of it requires product responsibility.

A certification for the whole product team

We have certified more than 15,000 professionals in around 19 countries. When we look at who they are, we see product managers, product owners, business analysts, developers, marketing leads, service managers, founders and, yes, designers.

The best results appear when a whole team shares the same language. When the product manager, the designer and the developer all understand the same UX principles, conversations are shorter and decisions are better. Nobody needs to “defend” UX anymore, because everybody owns it.

This is why many companies choose UX-PM as a team certification, not as an individual one. It is a way to align the people who decide the product.

Why this matters more now

Products are becoming more complex. AI features, multiple channels, faster release cycles. The distance between a decision and its effect on the user is shorter than ever.

In this context, it is not enough to have a strong design team. The people who decide need to understand the user. That is a product skill, and that is what UX-PM certifies.

In short

UX-PM is a certification for people who make product decisions. Designers are welcome, and they learn a lot. But the real audience is everyone who has a hand in the product: managers, owners, developers, analysts and leaders.

If you decide about the product, you decide about the experience. UX-PM helps you decide better.
